Kerry & Wes - Springtime Romance

The wedding of Kerry and Wes was uber romantic and filled with springtime love.

The couple was married at Central United Church in Calgary. The groom and groomsmen walked down the aisle to a live band singing "Goin' To The Chapel" and then the bridesmaids and the bride sauntered down to "At Last" by Etta James. The ceremony was filled with lots of emotion and joy as all the couple's family and friends gathered to celebrate with them.

The guests then joined the couple at the Fairmont Palliser Crystal Ballroom for a spring inspired wedding reception. The centerpieces towered over the guests in pilsner vases. Each centerpiece was created with love by the bride's mother.

When we met with the bride and groom to design the concept for the room months earlier. They decided on chocolate brown chair covers in satin and a brown leaf organza overlay. The overall look was stunning.

Firefly Occasions also brought in 8' tall birch trees which we adorned with Manzanita branches and various springtime blooms to create the look of trees blossoming right there in the room.

We also included amber uplighting to create the look that the wedding was taking place at dusk. Our lighting packages completely change the look of a room and we were thrilled with the result.

Ciara’s Bridal Advice

A lot of people say that they’ll make or craft things for their wedding day or that their friends and family will do it as was the case with Kerry’s Mom creating all of the flowers for her daughter’s wedding. Kerry’s Mom was a professional florist and unbelievably talented at what she does. I would not suggest that someone who has not worked in a florist shop take on a task as big as creating all the flowers for a wedding. The same goes for the other elements of the wedding (like invitations, photography, videography, DJ), really think about the actual time and talent it takes to do a task when it’s not something you do everyday.
